Eleven life scientists have been named winners of the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences. The researchers, whose specialties include genetics, stem cells and cancer, will receive $3 million each for their scientific discoveries. That's more than the Nobel Prize, which is $1.1 million. Art Levinson, Sergey Brin, Anne Wojcicki, Mark Zuckerberg, Priscilla Chan and Yuri Milner are all sponsors of the prize, which recognizes excellence in research aimed at curing intractable diseases and extending human life.
