New bird flu fears arise
The LA Times updates the global casualty list for bird flu, noting that new outbreaks are raising renewed fears of a pandemic. Michael T. Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, says that the virus has continued to "smolder, and many times flare up" over the past five years.
