Mass. plans new bio-manufacturing research center
An $80 million Emerging Technologies and Innovation Center planned for UMass Lowell will concentrate on nano- and bio-manufacturing research and is expected to play a role in moving life sciences companies from R&D into production. About $35 million has already been approved for the 97,000-square-foot research facility, which economic development officials are gambling on to help foster new companies.
